In the early 1980s, Vermonters voted in 177 Town Meetings to support a freeze on nuclear weapons. In 1982, they went by the busload to the nuclear disarmament march in New York joining more than a million demonstrators. Burlington sent a particularly large delegation organized by Wendy Coe, among many others.
