Today the No Nukes Oral History Project interviewed Burlington, Vermont journalist Greg Guma who reported many of the events that are part of this history as they were happening. Greg, the author of The People’s Republic: Vermont and the Sanders Revolution (1989, The New England Press), offered keen observation and context on the strategic and philosophical discussions and debates among movement organizers during the years (1973-1982) covered by this oral history, from the early organizing against the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant to the Green Mountain State’s first-in-the-nation Town Meeting votes supporting a nuclear weapons freeze.
